A CNA is a certified nursing assistant. They have special training and certification to help nurses care for patients in a hospital or clinic.
By learning how to work as a nurse aide, you can gain valuable knowledge and experience that will help you advance your career. This is what the CNA job is all about: learning how to work as a nurse aide, enabling you to use these skills in an actual hospital setting, and eventually getting promoted to head Nurse Aide.
Healthcare is one of the largest providers of pediatric home care in the U.S., with over 1,900 licensed practitioners in its network of hospitals and clinics across the country. Healthcare’s mission is to improve the health of infants and children through the delivery of high-quality home care services that meet their needs at affordable rates. It does this by providing affordable pediatric home health care services for medically fragile infants and children who live at home with their families, through its network of 6,000 licensed practitioners serving nearly 10 million patients annually. It also provides ABA therapy services—the treatment of children who are disabled due to brain injury or disease—through its network of 11 locations throughout the country with more than 500 therapists providing therapy services each year.
Which Healthcare?
CNA’s are supposed to be the backbone of the healthcare industry. They should be able to take care of patients with no problem. But they often have other problems too.
Unfortunately, that is not true for all CNA’s. We at Healthcare are taking steps to change that reality by providing our CNA’s with the tools and training needed to be successful in a completely different job market.
CNA’s are expected to do a lot more than just nursing. They should also be able to do an extensive range of other tasks, from administrative work to medical coding and scheduling, while still being able to support their families back at home. But here again, things look very different in reality—as we have found out first-hand due to our own experiences.
We recently merged Healthcare with a national health insurer and our CNAs were informed that they would need a new licensure process, which would take several months on average (even though most national CNA credentials last roughly 6 months). The insurer told us that they could pass on time constraints by increasing reimbursement rates starting in November. So, there is no reason why our CNA’s can’t start taking advantage of the new opportunities provided by this merger in January 2016!
Our goal is this: we want our CNAs to live up to their potential as fully integrated partners in health care by becoming skilled and competent caregivers for patients in their own homes! That means giving them the tools and training needed so they can do – or at least better than – what CNA’s currently do for patients across America: connect, care, and support families who need them most!
The Healthcare Mission
In this post, I’m going to talk about the Healthcare mission. What are we trying to do? What is our focus?
We started Healthcare with a simple mission:
To connect families and caretakers to high-quality, affordable pediatric home care.
We believe that we can help make this possible by helping parents give up the idea of taking time away from their families and giving them the choice of being with them in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
The following year, the family grew from two employees to 15. The team grew from three employees to 20 and then 30 (and so on). In 2015, the company went public at $2 per share on the NASDAQ exchange. Today, operates as a multi-platform company with medical centers in Seattle, Washington; Boston; Minneapolis; Detroit; and Pleasant Hill in Oregon.
Is based on four core business pillars: medical services for children (pediatric home care), ABA therapy, pediatric therapy, and IV therapies. They have recently added an innovative and rapidly growing enteral nutrition service to their portfolio which they call which provides supplemental nutrition through an infusion pump through long-term hospital stays and regular visits. They are currently growing their home care business by selling a VIP service called which allows families that need more time or longer-term care services to take over day-to-day management of their own homes while they are still able to be with them.
The IV therapy services are also growing rapidly as developed a new IV therapy route called which is available only through doctors who specialize in IV therapies such as cardiology or orthopedics who can provide it directly for patients suffering from conditions such as stroke or spinal cord injury. This service is unique because it allows patients suffering from severe internal bleeding like bleeding ulcers or hemorrhagic stroke pain to be cared for in hospitals at no cost since it is not covered by insurance coverage like other procedures.
Healthcare’s History
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Healthcare was a small company with a small staff and an ambitious vision. The company was founded in 1997 to provide pediatric home care for infants, toddlers, and children up to age 5.
Healthcare’s first major acquisition was in 2001: it acquired the United States-based organization CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) of America (subsequently renamed CNA). With this acquisition, became the largest provider of pediatric home care in North America. A year later Healthcare acquired the Providence Health & Services (PHS) group of companies in Rhode Island.
In 2004 Healthcare opened its first hospital: Children’s Hospital Stony Brook. As part of its network, it also opened a pediatric day clinic at Stony Brook University Hospital. In 2014 Healthcare held its second annual National Day of Health Care Attendant Training Conference (NODEAT) in Las Vegas. It also held an annual gathering with NODEAT participants in Las Vegas each July for 11 years starting in 2011 until 2015.
Three years later, on November 12, 2016, announced that it had completed its acquisition of Stony Brook University Hospital Corporation (SBUHC), which provides pediatric care at SBUHC’s LaGuardia Campus and at several other community hospitals across New York State . SBUHC is one of the largest providers of family-friendly care through community health centers across New York State . For more than 50 years SBUHC has provided services that support families and communities through primary health care, preventive services and specialty clinics to help people achieve independence and improve their quality of life through prevention, wellness programs, rehabilitation and health education.
How Healthcare Is Unique in Home Care
In the last few years, Healthcare has been vocally committed to hiring nurses. We’ve seen firsthand the benefits of a strong nurse workforce. In 2010, we partnered with the National Association of State Boards of Nursing to establish a Nurse Equity and Diversity initiative. As a result, Healthcare has hired nurses at an unprecedented rate. In fact, we’ve now hired more nurses in our home care program than any other company in the industry!
Healthcare is also unique in one respect: we are a social enterprise that primarily focuses on providing care to patients who need it most — autism spectrum disorders (ASD). ASD is a disorder that affects about 1% of all kids and some adults who live with it. As such, no other organization can provide comprehensive in-home services for this group of patients or any other group within this population.
Patient Testimonials
This is not a new problem. We have seen CNA Jobs (a CNA is a Certified Nursing Assistant. They have special training and certification to help nurses care for patients in a hospital or clinic) advertised for years now. However, we have yet to find a company that has actually hired a cna as part of their hiring process, and we believe that this should be a mandatory requirement for any company looking to hire an ABA (and someone who is not using it as an excuse to avoid the cost of an ABA).
