What are the main differences between these 2 approaches? When you purchase, you are buying into the club on your own and getting all the benefits that come with it.
The other choice is to “borrow” points from Disney. This means that you’re paying for the use of Disney Vacation Club points but not buying into the club. You do get some benefits like dining discounts.
However, when you borrow points, you don’t get access to all of the perks associated with DVC membership. Another thing to consider is that you will never own the issues you borrow, and they must be paid back.
Putting Points to Use
So, how does the Disney Vacation Club work when it comes to points? You receive a certain amount of points, depending on your membership. You can use them for your vacation at any of the 14 resorts or villas.
There are several different options for using your points. Maybe you want to spend a week at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort near Magic Kingdom Park. Or perhaps you want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge near Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

You have a lot of options when it comes to using the points. You could book a stay for as short as a two-night trip or as long as a whole week. You can choose to stay for any length of time in between, too!
Picking the Right Room
What type will work best for you and your party? DVC has several room types from which to choose, including standard hotel-style rooms, Deluxe Studio Villas, One Bedroom Villas, and even Home Resort Suites.
Which type you choose depends on the number of people at your party and how much space you need. If there will be kids, a standard hotel-style room may not work for your party size. Whereas, if you have a smaller group of adults, a Deluxe Studio Villa may be more than enough space for you.
If you have a larger party, then possibly consider getting two standard hotel-style rooms or even building your own Home Resort Suite.
Picking the Right Location
How does the Disney Vacation Club work, when it comes to choosing places? And why is it important to choose the right location?
Well, let’s say that there are 3 of you staying in one villa for five days. You could stay at Boardwalk Villas and get a fantastic location near Epcot.
Or, maybe you’re visiting during the holiday season and would like to be closer to Magic Kingdom Park. In this case, perhaps Animal Kingdom Villas will be a better fit for your group!
You can enjoy DVC resorts and villas in luxurious places like Bay Lake, Animal Kingdom Villas, or the Boardwalk Villas. Feeling extra tropical?
